Trinity Halls Welcomes Its 2025/26 JCR Officers

A fresh cohort of eleven student officers has been elected to lead the Junior Common Room (JCR) for Trinity Hall in the 2025/26 academic year. With Chloe McCarthy as President, the new committee aims to bring an even stronger sense of community, creativity, and support to student life in halls.

Priorities and Plans

President Chloe McCarthy, a Biological and Biomedical Sciences student, has been involved in a range of halls activities—from performing in musicals to running the popular “Halls Balls” football club. Alongside the rest of the JCR team, she’s keen to enhance the Trinity Hall experience through inclusive sports opportunities, new social events, and improved communal spaces like Oldham.

Key aims for the coming year include:

  • Fostering Inclusivity: Continuing and expanding clubs such as Halls Balls for all genders and year groups.

  • Strengthening First-Year Support: Helping new arrivals settle in, feel safe, and get involved right from the start.

  • Boosting Amenities: Plans for refurbishing study areas and extending social hubs such as the JCR café.

A Community-Focused Team

Each officer brings unique skills and passions to their role. Sarah O’Sullivan (Vice President / Treasurer) will manage finances to support hall initiatives, while James O’Dowd (Welfare Officer) is set to focus on student wellbeing and mental health. Geoffrey McDonnell (Ents Officer) will orchestrate nights out and on-campus events, and Mohamed Abdalla (Sports Officer) will collaborate to ensure an even wider range of fitness and sporting activities.

Meanwhile, Alejandra López (International Officer) looks forward to welcoming international students into a close-knit community, and Roberta Milazzo (Music Officer) plans to keep the arts scene vibrant. Ensuring that the Irish language remains a vital part of halls life will be Éire Ní Fhaoláin (Oifigeach na Gaeilge), while Emma Maguire (Publications Officer) and Sarah O’Connor (Communications & Marketing Officer) will keep everyone informed through digital and print media. Fionn Gavin (Tech Officer) rounds out the team, supporting the JCR’s tech needs.
